Senior Interaction Designer

Shutterfly is looking for a Senior Interaction Designer who has a passion for designing easy-to-use, consumer-friendly web interfaces for its award-winning web service.

Responsibilities include:

• Define the user experience for new products and features that establish and adhere to site conventions and standards.
• Create detailed design and functional documents (storyboards, workflows, mockups, prototypes, specifications) that effectively communicate the information and interaction design for visual design, content and technical development.
• Plan and conduct usability tests, evaluate results and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Gather and analyze user needs, as well as, business and functional requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, visual design and product management teams.

Key Skills and Experience:

• 4+ years of practical experience in designing user-centric, consumer-oriented web-based interfaces (Preferably as an Interaction Designer or the like).
• Solid understanding of the fundamentals of user interface design; have experience working through the entire product life cycle, and familiarity with user-centered design methods.
• Knowledgeable of best practices of all major best of breed web-based interfaces.
• Good understanding of benefits and constraints of current Internet technologies. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DHTML, Flash. Proficiency with PhotoShop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, Acrobat.
• Good communication and personal skills: ability to interact and work well with members of other functional groups in a project team.
• Desire and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing, dynamic environment.
• Degree in human-computer interaction (BS or MS in HCI desirable).
