Director of Financial Planning & Marketing Analysis

The Director of Financial Planning & Marketing Analysis position will be a key member of the Finance organization, and will work extensively with Shutterfly’s senior management and business unit leadership teams. The position will be responsible for managing the budgeting and forecasting activities, the financial analysis of business unit operations, the analysis of significant capital projects, and the internal financial reporting. This person will lead the initiative to design and implement a system for distributing the company’s key financial and performance information.


Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing an executive dashboard for key metrics
  • Working closely with various departments to provide operational analysis and reporting
  • Owning company’s budgeting and forecasting process, including reporting and analysis
  • Designing and implementing capital reporting and analysis
  • Maintaining capital markets and competitor data
  • Performing ad hoc financial analysis to support business decision-making, including financial and M&A modeling
  • Co-leading with IT and accounting a strategic three-year financial systems review, including presumed implementation of budgeting and business intelligence/analytics packages
  • Managing current FP&A staff, with ability to grow department as needed


Reporting Relationship:

  • Direct report to VP of Finance
  • Significant interaction with senior Shutterfly staff members across all departments


Experience & Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in accounting or finance (CPA or MBA preferred)
  • 8-12 years of financial planning and analysis experience in a large growth company, preferably in an FP&A environment.
  • Experience should include management reporting responsibilities, forecasting/ budgeting, analytical projects, and M&A/strategic analysis.
  • Systems savvy, having significant experience with budgeting and business analytical packages (Cognos, Hyperion, etc.) - previous budgeting and business intelligence/analytics package implementation experience a plus.
  • Must have strong communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to interpret and summarize data to aid management in achieving strategic and operation goals.
  • Need the ability to work in fast pace and high-growth environment and be willing to “roll-up her/his sleeves” to lead organizational change.
