Digital Press and Bindery Equipment Technician

The Digital Press and Bindery Equipment Technician will perform proactive maintenance and repair on a variety of digital presses and bindery equipment. All work is performed to exact standards; optimal product quality is the standard. Equipment maintained would include digital presses, cutters, slitter folders, scorers, stackers, UV coaters, book binding equipment, punches, drills, inserters, air compressors and supporting equipment.

Mission:

The primary mission of the Digital Press and Bindery Equipment Technician will be to provide maximum uptime of assigned equipment as well as ensure that production from assigned equipment is of optimal quality. The Press and Bindery Equipment Technician will hold safety as the uppermost concern while in pursuit of this primary mission. A constant awareness of improving manufacturing processes and procedures is essential.

A positive win-win approach involving internal and external stakeholders will be necessary to accomplish the mission in accordance with established company polices, procedures, objectives and values.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs proactive maintenance
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and electronic malfunctions to the circuit board level
  • Prioritization of assigned tasks; assigned tasks completed by deadlines
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical problems
  • Replaces worn and broken parts
  • Assists in operator training
  • Interfaces with equipment manufacturers
  • Adherence to OSHA polices
  • Maintains spare parts inventory
  • Records work within issue tracking software
  • Assists in facilities maintenance

Skills and Attributes Needed:

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and to work harmoniously with others
  • Ability to be flexible on shifts worked; Shutterfly runs a 24×7 manufacturing facility
  • Available to work extended hours through the Holiday season
  • Ability to stand 6 to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds
  • Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Ability to work in an environment of continuous noise and exposure to printing chemical odors
  • Ability to work in an environment of changing priorities
  • Skilled in writing concise reports, PM’s, document needed procedures and practices

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 6+ years in successful digital press and bindery equipment maintenance and repair
  • Associates degree or military equivalent training
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
