Network Engineer – 49

Shutterfly is looking for a Network Engineer to join our Internet Operations Team. We are seeking an outstanding candidate to drive the architecture, operation, troubleshooting, and management, of our 24/7 e-commerce production network.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter; detail oriented, and is experienced with time and task management. This position will be the primary point of contact for our production, and corporate networks, and will be responsible for tasks related to managing, maintaining, and upgrading the same.
This position requires participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation capacity. The qualified candidate must be able to work efficiently in a fast paced business environment, capable of providing guidance and leadership towards maintaining a solid, reliable and stable network.

Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include managing a multiple vendor routed/switched network, primarily composed of Cisco devices. Duties include the configuration and maintenance of firewalls, load balancers, physical and logical network equipment. Mentoring, and cross training with peers in other areas of the team is required.

Candidate will have experience working with and deploying new technology through regular refresh and upgrades, accommodating future growth and generating cost-effective plans for integrating new technology and capabilities within the existing infrastructure.

Requirements:
* Four or more years experience in Network Engineering, with a 24/7 availability requirement
* In depth knowledge of enterprise routing and switching, specifically Cisco IOS 12.2 experience on the 65xx platform.
* Comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals and theory, including Application load balancing,
* Ability to establish and maintain external peering via BGP
* Experience with BGP traffic shaping, route redistribution
* OSPF routing experience
* Strong knowledge of non-stop network environments, including hitless upgrades, failover (at both layer 2 and layer 3)
* Familiar with use and configuration of Cisco FWSM
* Strong written and oral communication
* Ability to work within a team environment.
* Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
* BS CS / BS EE or equivalent work experience.
* Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
* Ability to survey the network area for opportunities for improvement, evaluate and recommend a specific solution, and then implement them.

Desired Skills:
* Linux and/or Solaris System Administration.
* CCNP or CCIE certifications.
* Excellent documentation skills
* Experience managing external vendors
* Substantial network design experience
* Traffic shaping experience
* Experience supporting multiple locations.
* Experience with Cisco CSM load balancers
