Internship - Creative Designer

We are seeking a talented design student to join our creative team as an intern. The creative team at Shutterfly is responsible for the visual and written expression of the brand, ranging from the website to merchandising and marketing collateral.

The creative team designs marketing communication materials across various formats including e-mail, banner ads, brochures, promotional mailers, and landing pages; we develop the style and content of the products that customers make with Shutterfly; and we work closely with Product Management and User Experience groups on product development to enhance and improve functionality, consistency, and efficiency of the site. We are committed to designs that are effective for the business and compelling for the customer.

Under the supervision of a senior designer, the intern designer will be responsible for developing designs according to business and brand specifications. You will interact with our internal clients to understand their requests and design a solution that meets their business objectives. The intern designer will work within the requirements of our creative development process to ensure efficient, high quality, and timely production of those designs.

Required Skills


The intern design candidate must:

  • Have thorough knowledge of computers and the Internet, both PC and Mac
  • Be proficient using PhotoShop and Illustrator to create graphic design for the Internet
  • Be familiar with the goals of various marketing communication tools (for example - advertising, print collateral, logo development, interactive multimedia, etc.)
  • Understand the basics of HTML and the requirements that HTML places upon design

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of In-Design, ImageReady, Macromedia Fireworks, Flash

Qualifications


The successful intern designer can:

  • Execute design concepts in a quick and efficient manner that consistently meets defined business objectives
  • Juggle multiple projects at one time
  • Identify what information is needed to properly deliver a design solution to a business request
  • Work well independently, developing focused, high quality designs with minimal supervision
  • Communicate the details of their creative approach and how it relates to business objectives
