Senior Product Manager

As Senior Product Manager, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative, differentiated, best-in-class products and services, leveraging deep customer insights and knowledge of the competitive landscape. The Product Management team is also focused on continually improving the Shutterfly web site and experience to meet the needs of our growing customer base and drive high levels of customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities include:
- Effectively collaborate with business, marketing, technical, user experience and operational teams to develop requirements, prioritize enhancements, and drive projects to completion.
- Assess product opportunities, conduct competitive research and technology assessment (if required) to formulate product recommendations to implementation team.
- Formulate product requirement documents (PRDs) taking into account goals of the organization, competitive outlook, industry direction, resource constraints and required timeline. Enable the user experience, engineering and operational groups with concise and accurate identification of product objectives and requirements.
- Work closely with engineering to balance technical and business trade-offs. Support Engineering during development process & post-launch operations.
- Conduct competitive analysis and consumer research. Identify areas for differentiation.
- Serve as product champion and strong customer advocate for new and existing products.
- Identify and work with outside organizations such as vendors, partners, and outsourced development organizations as may be required.
Key Skills and Experience:
- 4-7 Years of product management experience, with solid track record of developing and launching successful complex products in e-commerce and/or internet-based services (ideally consumer/B2C).
- Experience working cross-functionally with these areas: business, operations, engineering, QA, user experience, visual design, consumer marketing, public relations, finance, legal and customer service.
- Knowledge of and experience with software development lifecycles.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying customer and business requirements, communicating those into an innovative product/feature vision, and rallying the execution team around that vision to deliver on-time and on-budget.
- Passionate about great products and user experience. Ability to back up your opinions with data and clear supporting exhibits.
- Must have excellent communication (both written and verbal) and decision-making skills. Ability to confidently relate to a senior executive one minute, and an engineer the next.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytic and strategic thinking skills
- Experience with market research, competitive analysis, prototype testing, and usability testing
- Results-oriented, energetic, self-starter
- Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
- Fun, energetic, flexible personality
- BA/BS. MBA a plus.
- Nice to have: experience with physical products, experience working with outside vendors and partners, experience with or a passion for photography
