I’ve been with Customer Service for over 10 years, and the best thing about my job is that I’m truly empowered to help customers. We don’t use a lot of complicated procedures or pre-written scripts. No matter what the issue, we take the time to listen to our customers, understand their individual concerns, and then work with them to find a solution. Our customers really appreciate the extra care we provide, and it’s because of the trust Shutterfly has in Customer Service to do the right thing.
Fostering a great work environment at Shutterfly starts with providing a positive experience to job applicants throughout their candidacy. We strive to be transparent about the hiring process and to demonstrate as open communication as possible with all job applicants — just as we encourage transparency and open communication in our everyday work culture.
Each of the sections below is intended to help you become familiar with and to prepare for steps in our hiring process. When you’re ready to begin, select the Available Position you want to apply for and follow the instructions for submitting your information to us. We’ll look forward to being introduced to you and seeing how you might make an impact at Shutterfly.
The Hiring Process
Here is what you can expect after submitting your application for one of our open positions:
-
Initial Screening
A Shutterfly recruiter will review your qualifications and experience. Applicants whose resumes appear best suited for the position will be contacted for a preliminary phone screen. This initial contact will enable the recruiter to gather more detail about your background and to clarify or put context around information on your resume. Top candidates for the position will be invited to in-person interviews.
-
On-site Interviews
Whether the job is in our corporate headquarters or one of our production facilities, we try to conduct interviews on-site so that candidates begin to feel the spirit and energy of our special workplace. Candidates will meet the hiring manager during the on-site interview, and depending on the role, other Shutterfly employees may participate in the interviewing process as well. Throughout this stage we focus on scheduling accuracy and timeliness, so that all interviewers respect the candidates’ time. We want your interview experience to be positive and engaging.
-
Hiring Decision
The hiring manager will confer with the other interviewers to gather feedback. The hiring decision can take some time, especially when there are multiple potential great hires, but we try to move as quickly as possible in making a final decision. Once we select the best candidate for the position, the hiring manager and/or recruiter will contact the candidate with a job offer. Those candidates who do not get an offer of employment will be notified so that they can pursue other opportunities.
