I've received wonderful calendars of my beloved grandsons for years but this is the first calendar I made myself. Lots of options and easy to do - I'm old so nothing is really easy. The results are outstanding!
The active experience of designing your own makes you appreciate the work involved in having someone make one for you (passive experince). But I really enjoyed myself as I put mine together - re-viewing photos from the past.
Beautifully clear photos and great lay-out - better in actuality than seen on review in Shuterfly. Altogether smashing! Will be a very much appreciated gift for a man who loves his little dog, Annie. Thanks, Shutterfly

Truly wonderful calendars
I did not have high expectations for the calendar when I ordered it. I wasn't sure how bright or sharp the pictures were going to be, or how the sizes of the photos were going to look on each page.
I am very impressed with first the selection for the backgrounds, second the quality of these calendars. The photos are so crisp and stand out. They are printed on a thick, sturdy paper.
I could not be happier. I made one for us to try it out but I will now make many more as gift for grandparents.

I've been making calendars for over 5 years now for my parents that include pictures from the past year. It's a great gift that they look forward to each year. I'm the youngest of five kids and there are 12 nephews and nieces in my family. What a fantastic way to capture all the memories from the year. Now I have to buy enough for all my brothers and sisters! Great job shutterfly!

Calendars are nice, but event font is too small
I love the quality of your calendars. I received my order of fifteen calendars today and they were very nice. The only thing that disappoints me is that the font on the events is so tiny. Microscopic almost! I thought it was too small on last year's calendars, but I thought it looked larger on the screen this time, so I had hoped that was a change you made. Unfortunately I was wrong and it is nearly impossible to read. If you improve this in the future, please make sure it is publicized on your website. I would love to continue to make my calendars with you, but this is a major issue and kind of defeats the idea of making a personalized calendar. I hate to have to find another place to print my calendars, but I may have no choice.

I made and ordered 1 of these for my mother in law. We have a newborn baby so thought it would be the perfect gift for Christmas. Got it in the mail today and we were so excited that we actually gave it to her early. She loved it. The quality was amazing!! Definitely would order again!

Our family's favorite Xmas gift
My 'best practices' for making Shutterfly calendars:
I have been making family calendars for some years now using the 8x11 template. Here is my format:
1. Shutterfly saves my old calendars and I start each year by saving last year's calendar with this year's title.
2. I then replace last year's photos with new ones. I edit the dates for any changes (weddings, for example).
3. I use templates for the pictures and work in Adobe Photoshop. I save in the color format recommended by Shutterfly. Using Shutterfly's best practices helps the pictures turn out exactly as I expect. Here is a summary of Shutterfly's recommended practices.
* Use RGB not CMYK.
* Crop to 10 x 7.5 inches (3000 x 2250 pixels).
* Crop cover image to 10.75 x 8.25 inches (3075 x 2475 pixels).
* Sharpen photos at amount = 150, radius = 1, threshold = 0.
* Save photos at 300 dpi and highest quality (12).
4. I have made calendars using other programs, but like the card stock that Shutterfly uses for its calendars much better than the others.
5. My preference is for the photo to take the whole page, with no border.
6. I normally buy the pre-paid option (12 or 24 calendars prepaid), which drops the price quite a bit compared to the individual pricing. Even with discounts, the prepaid pricing is quite a bit cheaper.
7. Michaels has wooden photo frames that are exactly the right size to hold a Shutterfly calendar page. I have probably six years worth of Shutterfly calendars now, and have discovered that they frame beautifully in the Michaels frames. They can be hung in groups -- we have several framed sets on different walls -- and make nice gifts also. No one can tell they were calendar pages!
Hope you find these instructions helpful. Enjoy!

I have made these for several years for my entire family at Christmas. Love them. My suggestion would be to allow the dates birthdays etc to carry over from year to year and just put in new pictures. I spend hours doing calendar every year as not only put in special pictures but have to reenter all the special days every year.

I make 2 8x11 calendars a year for grandparents as gifts. They love the pictures but also use the calendars. They have commented that the calendar numbers are too small for them to see easily. Please enlarge the numbers Shutterfly, or least give us the option for different sizing. I LOVE these calendars otherwise!!

I love Shutterfly! I make my mom a calendar every year for Christmas. I love all the products I've ever gotten from Shutterfly.

spiraled calendars VS. Stapled Calenders
I have been working on a calender to send to a loved one. I recently learned that i will not be able to send a contemporary "spiraled" calender, but will have to send a "stapled" calender instead. Is there a way to update this on my order? it's taken me quite a bit of time for this project, i prefer not to start over. Please feel free to shed some light.

I have made many calendars over the years and I am amazed at the quality they are. I have been using Shutterfly for other projects and have NEVER been disappointed, they are the BEST people to do business with. If you have a problem working on your project, they will walk you through it, they are very patient with their customers. I LOVE SHUTTERFLY and will not consider using anyone else.

I may be wrong, But last year I think I was able to select different style backgrounds for each month???? Now, You can have to stick with the one style.

I wanted to make 12 x 12 calendars for my family but with the restricted editing options on the 12 x 12 I elected to make 11 x 8 Calendars. After receiving my Calendars I was very happy. I gave one to my mom for her birthday she was thrilled. I am now making more two more for Christmas gifts to send to other family members.

I just received my calendars, for Christmas gifts, and they are stunning! Love that you can add a photo of the birthday person on the date of their birthday! Beautiful picture quality!
Also had 16/20 prints of birds I had taken and they are fabulous.
Thank You, Shutterfly!

I was excited to see a larger calendar option available this year. But then disappointed to find out I was not able to utilize the entire top portion of each month/page with only my photos, as I did last year. Instead the page is partially covered with your chosen background, therefore causing the photos to be smaller. I also would prefer a non text option, again to utilize more space for my photos. I know if I don't fill the text in, it will not print text, but it still does not allow for this extra space to be used by photos.
Also, not happy with the forced layout templates. We should be able to freely drag, drop, and move our photos the way we want them without having to follow their preset templates.
Not very user friendly.
If anyone knows of a way around these issues that I'm missing, please let me know.

Calendar software won't let me finetune/edit date photos
This is probably the sixth or seventh calendar I have done with Shutterfly, but the software now seems to limit my ability to edit photos placed on important birthday and anniversary dates. Seems like a small thing, but when the onscreen directions lead me to believe I can edit, resize and reposition these "date" photos, and it will not respond....grrrrrr. The results are chopped off heads and out of kilter positioning of faces. So I take them out completely.
So I love the tactile quality and looks of the finished products, but this limitation/bug is driving me crazy and causing me to rate the Shutterfly calendar experience an ordinary 5 out of 10. There used to be a customizing feature for redesigning pages, and I can't find that anymore either...boring and frustrating....there are other places....

Great way to share old photos across generations!
Every year, for several years, I've created calendars as Christmas gifts for family members using old (50-60 year old and some older!) photos to share across 4 generations. Until the calendar appears, a majority of the photos in the calendar have only been seen by one or two people. Each year I create a new theme. In the past I've had photos featuring cars we've owned, family members who are no longer with us, vacations, and pets. For the 2014 calendar, the theme was Let them eat cake: Have your cake and eat it, too! All of the photos included family members and their birthday cakes over the years. I also researched cake holidays (Did you know that February is National Cake Month or that June 6 is National Applesauce Cake Day or January 3 is Fruitcake Toss Day?!). Photos of these cakes were obtained from the web and inserted in the calendar on the day they are celebrated. It's always fun as people open their calendars to see first what I've included for their birthday and then as they look for early photos of Grandpa, Mom, aunts, and uncles. Lots of laughs and memories! It is an inexpensive gift that has lasting life as people save them for the many photos they now have. Best gift ever! Thanks, Shutterfly!

So many great pix!
I've been creating these calendars for a number of years. My family loves receiving them. I appreciate the fine quality and functionality of the finished products.
I always have more photos than I can use on just the top, so I always include more down on the number page. I wish Shutterfly would allow the open space squares at the beginning or end of the months to be used for those little pictures, so that I wouldn't need to drop the photos into the numbered spaces; those should be left open for people to write in.

I've ordered them in the past and the card stock is of high quality, but man, the prices have gone up too much!

Numbers on Calendar TOO SMALL TO SEE FROM AFAR
Other than the numbers being small, the calendars are great.
I have bought 2 so far. I will hold off till the numbers are bold and larger. These were for a gift for my grandmother, but since she can not see them i will not re-order anytime soon unless the NUMBERS INCREASE IN SIZE!!!!
