Q: How many images fit on a DVD slideshow? Do I have access to the single images composing the DVD slideshow?
A: A maximum of 400 images is the limit length for DVD slideshows. The slideshow is composed of one media file so users will not have access to the raw images. If you wish to obtain raw images please order an Archive DVD instead.

Q: Can I add captions?
A: Please use a Shutterfly caption border if you wish to add a caption to the image playing on the slideshow. Be sure to preview any caption borders carefully to ensure that the text is legible and correct. Please keep in mind that text that is legible on a computer monitor may be difficult to read on a television.

Q: What resolution should my image be? What does it mean if the image is ‘not recommended’?
A: We recommend a minimum resolution of 800x600 for images used in a DVD slideshow. If you receive a ‘not recommended’ warning, then the resolution of your image is too low to produce a satisfactory image on the DVD.
(Please note that our recommendations are based ONLY on the overall resolution of your picture, and not on the overall quality or clarity. We are not and cannot be responsible for blurry or out-of-focus images, even if there is sufficient resolution to be ‘recommended’.)
Pictures that fall below our recommended resolution guidelines may look okay during the ordering process, but may appear blurry and pixelated — that is, the image will appear blocky, with jagged rather than smooth edges — when enlarged and viewed as a slideshow on a television or computer monitor.
To check the resolution of your pictures once you have transferred them to Shutterfly, go to the View page and click on the thumbnail image; you will then see a larger version of the picture, with recommended print sizes. Click the picture info ‘link’. Among the information displayed you will find the resolution.

Q: Can I add a border to the images in the DVD slide show?
A: Any Shutterfly border may be added to images when creating a DVD. Border choices will appear in the preview of the DVD. If a border does not appear in the preview then it will not appear in the finished slideshow. Changes made to borders after an order is placed will not be reflected in the slideshow.
