Q: What print sizes can I order?
A: Shutterfly offers 4×6, 5×7, 8×10 and uncut sheets of 4 wallet-size prints. We also offer large-format prints (11×14, 16×20, and 20×30).

Note that the sheets of wallet-size prints are 5×7 and are uncut, and each of the four images on the paper has a thin (approximately 1/8”) white border. After you cut the sheets yourself, each of the four wallet-sized prints will be 2.5” x 3.5” and each will have a thin white border on all sides that is between 1/16” and 1/8” wide.

Q: How does Shutterfly print the images?
A: Shutterfly uses a silver-halide process similar to traditional photofinishing labs. Shutterfly uses Fuji Crystal Archive paper, which has been rated to have not only superior color, but to be the most durable photographic paper available. For more information on Shutterfly’s printing process, see our processing page.

A: For our standard size prints (wallet size through 8x10), Shutterfly offers both glossy and matte finish paper. For large-format prints (11×14, 16×20, and 20×30) we only offer matte-finish paper.

Our resolution recommendations are as follows:

less than 640 x 480Only wallet-size prints recommended
640 x 480Absolute minimum resolution for 4x6
(results will vary)
1024 x 768Minimum recommended resolution for 4x6

For large-format prints (11×14, 16×20, and 20×30), our recommendations are similar to those for an 8×10, although you may wish to help ensure the best possible print by using an image that is 3 megapixels or larger.
