Q: I don't have a digital camera! Can I still use Shutterfly to process and enhance my pictures?
A: Yes. You can use Shutterfly in a number of different ways even without a digital camera:

  1. Scan traditionally processed prints using 300 dpi or greater and save them as jpeg files keeping the jpeg quality at 80% or better. Now you've digitized them, and you can add them to your Shutterfly account.
  2. Order mailers for 35mm or APS (ADVANTIX®) film. We'll process it and make your pictures available to you in your Shutterfly account. You'll be able to make corrections, use borders and enhancements, share, and send prints just as if you had uploaded your prints digitally.
  3. Order prints of pictures that your friends have shared with you.

Q: Do I have to have a megapixel digital camera to use Shutterfly's print service?
A: You must have a high-resolution digital picture. Typically those pictures come from either a digital camera or a scanner. See the table below for recommended print and resolution combinations.

Q: Will any digital picture work?
A: Shutterfly currently accepts only pictures that are in the JPG format. We do not support TIFF, GIF, PSD, or other file formats.

Additionally, we strongly recommend that you use high-resolution images, as low-resolution images will not print well at standard sizes. Please see the Resolution Issues page for more information about our recommended resolutions.
