Give your landscape a subjectEver notice that some of your shots of the great outdoors lack the dramatic impact you thought they’d have as you were shooting? That’s because landscapes need a subject to highlight and emphasize their natural beauty. Next time you’re outside, look around to see if there’s an interesting tree or large rock that can help magnify the impact of the vista behind it. Better yet, look for a man-made object to highlight its juxtaposition with nature. While you’re framing around the subject, make sure to keep the angle wide enough so that you capture the whole of the landscape. Don’t forget the Rule of Thirds either. ![]()
