A Daily Treasure Hunt
Self-taught photographer Jessica Deane believes that pictures tell stories. The mother of three has a gift for capturing the beauty in everyday life. These are her images and her words.
I took this project on with photographer friends of mine. The goal was to capture something about my children without them being in the image. This wasn't the easiest challenge because I'm such a clean freak. It was hard to grab the camera and find humor in things I'd usually rush to straighten up. As time went on, I started to enjoy it. It became a treasure hunt during the day. What will they do today? What will I find? I look back at the pictures now and they bring me such joy. I will always have these images to document the little things the kids left behind at that stage of their lives. Little pieces of them..captured forever.

My son made this in first grade. Mr. Grasshead's sporting the mohawk hair cut I gave him. He lived by my kitchen sink for the longest time... until he finally died. I sure miss him.
