Anhingas
I enjoy watching these beautiful large birds basking in the warmth of the sun with their wings spread out to dry. What a sight to behold.

Avocets
I love these whimscial birds with their long beak with the curve on the end. The are busy prancing about the low tides looking for food.

Bats
The last 2 photos are of a bat my daughter & I rescued from a toilet in a Park Restroom. It had fallen into the water & couldn't get out. The other bats took up resdency on our neighbors balcony.

Blue Birds
Oh what cute birds these are. Their feathers look like they would feel like velvet. They also have a nice sound.

Blue Jays
I always called these the "cops" as they sure are confident & not afraid to chase you or other birds away. They are quite agressive.

Bobolinks
I enjoyed listening to this bird. I have only seen this bird once and that was in Oregon.

Cardinals
Oh how the Cardinal lights up the vegetation it's perched in. They have a lovely song to sing as well. The male as in most species is the most colorful.

Cassowarys
While visiting Australia we saw these magnificient birds. I love their turquoise blue necklaces.

Chickadees
The lovely lilting song of this bird with it's black cap is a joy to behold.

Chickens/Roosters
I never knew there were so many different kinds of chickens & roosters. They come in such an array of colors. Their chicks are so adorable.

Cockatiels/Cockatoos
Seeing these birds out and about free in Australia was a treat. They seem to enjoy the beach too!

Condors
I was lucky enough to witness not once but twice these incredible birds as they soared up, down & around the Grand Canyon. I couldn't get over their huge wing spans. They aren't real cute but they sure are awesome to watch.

Coots
These little black birds with their white beaks always seem to busy.

Cormorants
Am use to seeing these in Florida or California. Was quite surprised to see them show up here at Ford Lake which is a small lake. I like it when they have their wings spread out to gather the rays of the sun.

Cranes
These regal tall birds are a favorite. I was once a red head too so maybe that's why I enjoy them so much! Their babies are so cute but then most babies are. It was funny to see them in a grocery store parking lot. Wonder what they were shopping for!

Crows/Starlings
These are at the top of the Noisy Bird List but their iridescent coloring makes them pretty to look at.

Doves
They do sound "mournful" but are soft & the various shades of browns make them lovely. They aren't very good nest builders & will build nests in the oddest places. Watched a pair try to build one in the wing of a small plane. Twigs kept falliing out.

Ducks
Another species that surprised me as to how many different kinds there are. They produce adorable bundles of fluff. Always fun to watch & they're family oriented.

Dusky Moorehens
I got to see this bird in Cairns, Australia which was exciting. I have only seen this one thus far. Will just have to go back to Australia.

Eagles
OH, the impressive mighty & regal Eagle as it soars through the air. One can't help but be moved by seeing them up close. This does not happen everyday for many of us so it's a treat when it does.

Egrets
On many a boat trip we would often have an Egret as a passenger waiting for the top of the Live Well to open up. I love when the wind is blowing & their feathers move to the beat of the wind. They seem to be very patient when feeding.

Emus/Ostriches
The comedians of the birds & fowl. They make me laugh when I watch them. Not the most graceful of our fine feathered friends but when they are all fluffed up they are lovely.

Finches
These dainty little birds are lovely singers & come in a variety of beautiful hues. They're like lovely ornaments on a Christmas tree.

Flamingos
Flamingos are somewhat regal & elegant looking. Their coloring is a blend of pinks, coral , whie & salmon giving them a soft appearance. It amazes me how they can stand on one leg for long periods of time. They are fun to watch & seem quite social.

Geese
The "Social Butterflies" of the bird & fowl species. They sure take good care of their offspring & more baby fluff balls to enjoy.

Grackles
A loud bird but again it's iridescent coloring over rides that.

Grebes
What fun it is to watch them dive for food. They are so quick & accurate. I wonder if they could teach me some tricks about fishing!

Ground Hornbill
A rather large bird who's not very attractive but is colorful! That's quite the beak.

Gulls
Gulls are part of the "Clean Up Crew". It has amazed me how years ago you only saw them by the water & now they have become fixtures at the Fast Food places! They certainly are great adapters when it comes to environment.

Hawks
They may be smaller then the Eagle but I find them just as majestic. I enjoy watching them soar with the current of the wind. I like their coloring because it gives them a soft look. They are a strong species.

Herons
Oh to see the Great Blue Heron lift off & fly is quite a sight. What a wing span & yet so graceful. the beautiful shades of grays, blues & browns that blend together is beautiful. The small herons with their amazing blue hues. They stand tall & proud.

Hummingbirds
This too, is a bird that is facinating to watch. They are a wonderful palette of many colors & a cheery bird. They're so very delicate looking & seem to work hard.

Ibis
Now here's a beak to behold! They have a lovely appearance & add to the beauty & wonder that Mother Nature provides for us.

Kookaburras
What fun it was to see these birds in Australia. We even sang the song about the Kookaburras. They are cute.

Loggerhead Shrikes
I love these little birds. They seem to chatter a lot to each other. The shades of muted grays with the black bands is so pretty.

Magpies
Magpies are so pretty with their basic black & white feathers. You soon learn to recognize their sound. It was in Oregon where I first saw these birds & haven't seen them since.

OrangeFoot Scrubfowl
Our trip to Australia introduced us to this pair for the very first time. Great coloring with a little iridescent thrown in. They didn't seem to be afraid of us walking that close to them. It's fun seeing things for the first time.

Ospreys
We were fortunate to observe the progress of parents with 3 babies over a 9 week time frame. We even saw them practice flying above the nest then their solo flights. It's rare for Ospreys to keep 3 babies as they usually only keep two.

Parrots
Oh the devil may care parrots. They are such a joy in spite of their loudness. The color combinations of the various species are nothing short of being spectacular. They have the appearance of looking like velvet.

Pelicans
The delightful pelicans that are extremely entertaining to watch. It's amazing how they dive into the water without breaking their necks. The rare White Pelicans are a joy to see.

Pigeons
Well, not one of my favorite birds but they do help keep the streets a little cleaner! They vary in their coloring & the iridescence makes them look pretty. Excellent adapters to our environment as well.

Quails
We first saw these in New Zealand. I loved the way they strutted around so proud like. The gray coloring with white spots gives them a gentle appearance.

Ravens
The Raven & Edgar Allen Poe go together like Ham & Eggs. It does make its presance known when about as it's loud. Depending on how the sun shines it looks like indigo blue or black.

Red Winged Blackbird
These birds are so pretty when in flight so you can see their colorful wings with the bright red & yellow.

Robins
A couple of years ago we got to watch a momma robin raise 3 babies outside our computer room. It was a wonderful experience & kind of sad to see them leave one by one. One day, momma went to get food & came back to an empty nest. I felt so sad for her.

Rosette Spoonbills
Their coloring is a mix of pinks & white which create an elegant looking bird. It's beak is commical looking but works for them. To see a flock of them in flight is just beautiful.

Sandpipers
I love watching these birds dart in & out of the edge of the water as it comes ashore. They're so quick. I love watching the babies follow their moms around. The shades of browns, black & white blend to create a soft lovely coat of feathers.

Scarlet Ibis
WOW! This is one of the most vibrant birds to grace our planet. What a standout this species is. It's one of my favorites.

Sparrows/Wrens
Two species that just are cute. They are excellent parents too & always busy fixing their nests or looking for food. They're like old friends & nice to have around.

Stanley Cranes
I enjoyed seeing this different species of Crane. It's a beautiful shade of gray and stands tall & proud. I like the way the back has black feathers & their heads have a white crown.

Stilts
These long legged black & white Stilts were a delight to observe.

Swans
Oh the ever graceful swans. They sure are protective parents. I love the incredible black swans. There's just something magical about Swans.

Terns
These little birds seem to enjoy resting on the posts around dock areas. Liketheir standing guard over us. I love their black caps & feathers on their heads.

Turkeys
Turkeys are interesting & look silly when they run. They aren't very good looking but they certainly do have very beautiful feathers which makes up for the loss of a beautiful face.

Vultures
Now we have the leaders of Waste Management! They do the job to the best of their abilities & are needed to keep the balance. They are kind of humorous looking.

Willets
This long beaked bird delicately wades through the water while looking for food. It's seems to be a quiet bird & is pretty to look at.

Wood Storks
I enjoy seeing the Rookeries where large numbers of these birds nest & have their babies. They are not the most attractive looking but they are very graceful in flight. It's amazing how easily they land on a thin branch of a bush.

Woodpeckers
It's been fun to see different species of these birds. One in particular has made our condo it's own restaurant! We have had to have large holes on our outer walls plugged up due to their large appetites! That bright red cap helps to spot them easier.

Yellow Belly Bird
This was taken at Costa Maya an Island with Myan ruins. Don't know the name of this bird but it sure is lovely. It made a sweet sound as well.
