2010 Easter Egg Hunt
They prance and squeal like wild ponies behind the starting line, until the horn blows. And they're off! Galloping all around the fire house lawn hoping to fill their baskets. Here are photos from the 2010 annual U.S. Kids Care Easter Egg Hunt.

Circle The Block Party 2008
Ah, June 7th...sounded like a pleasant day to hold the 2008 neighborhood block party. Who knew it would climb near 100, with drenching humidity? Well, we braved the heat, Monkey Fuzz rocked the lawn, and a hot good time was had by all.

Circle the Block Party 2009
Finally - Perfect weather for the 3rd Annual Circle the Block Party. Hundreds gathered on the Fire Station Lawn Oct. 3rd. Monkey Fuzz worked the kids (and some adults) into a conga line frenzy. A great afternoon. Many thanks to our sponsors and volunteers

Egg Hunt 2009
It was a perfect day for the U.S. Kids Care's 2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Whistles blew and kids flew from the starting lines to fill up their baskets. Parents and neighbors gabbed and snapped photos. Couldn't ask for a nicer neighborhood get-together.

July 4th South Roanoke Parade 2009
A great crowd turned out for South Roanoke's Third Annual Neighborhood July 4th Parade. Fire Station 8's B-Shift ambulance & crew led the parade. The Loftins served lemonade to passing paraders and a good time was had by all.

Tinnell's
Tinnell's Finer Foods has been a hallmark of South Roanoke since 1939. Almost as nostalgic, the sycamore out front is now gone.

White Oak - Carolina
The white oak lived a good life. It was a sad day in South Roanoke when it fell in August 2005 after 400 years. A new tree was planted in its place on April 28, 2006.

White Squirrel
Here name is Lola. That's what I call her anyway. She's South Roanoke's lone white squirrel, and proud of it. Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets.
