How To Make A Gift Tag
To create an adorable DIY gift tag, you’ll need to head to your local craft store to pick up some supplies. Once you have everything you need, follow these six simple steps.
- Bowl of glitter
The sealer comes in two forms: as a glue-like substance or a spray. It’s labeled as a decoupage medium. It’s mainly used to keep the glitter in place and prevents a messy situation as glitter tends to stick to everything quickly. If you have trouble finding it at your local craft store, you can also use adhesive spray, but keep in mind that you’ll need to stay within the glittered area; otherwise, it can stain your tag.
Fill a bowl with your favorite glitter. You can use any color you’d like, just make sure that it will show up on the tag you’re using. For example, white glitter on a white tag might be a little difficult to spot. For ours, we used a green tag with gold glitter.
Take your gift tag and add glue to the bottom. Make sure that you account for all the space where you want your glitter. You can choose to place your glue at the bottom or top of the tag.
Use a brush to spread the glue evenly. If you’re making multiple tags at once, you’ll notice the brush will harden quickly once you complete a couple of tags. Just dip the brush in water, dry it, and continue working with it.
Dip your tag into the glitter. Your tag may bend, but don’t worry! It pops back into its original form once you take it out. Remember, the glitter will only cover the area where there is glue, so feel free to add more if you want more sparkle.
Tap or shake your tag to remove any excess glitter. Then, use a decoupage medium to seal the glitter in place. The sealer shows up as white when you brush it on, but don’t worry. The more time you allow for it to dry, the clearer it gets.
Add a name or favorite holiday quote, attach it to your gift and enjoy!
