Wedding Day

Wedding Day

A wedding day marks the day when a couple gets married. The wedding day is a celebration for the couple and their friends and family. Though couples can receive a marriage license before a wedding, the wedding day marks the beginning of the marriage.

In the U.S., the wedding season is usually between late Spring and early Fall since the weather in most areas can accommodate outdoor venues.

Typical Wedding Day Timeline

On your wedding day, your timeline may vary depending on how you plan to celebrate the day and when you’ve booked your ceremony and reception. A typical wedding day timeline may include:

  • Getting ready
  • Bride and groom gift exchanges
  • Bridal party photos
  • Final venue walkthrough
  • First look and bride and groom photos
  • Wedding party photos
  • Cocktail hour
  • Procession lineup
  • Ceremony
  • Reception

Preparing a Wedding Day Checklist

When it comes to how to plan a wedding, you should have most everything taken care of before your wedding day. That way, you can focus on getting ready and enjoying the big day. Yet, there are always small things to remember for the day of, and keeping a checklist can help you stay stress-free.

  • Check for the marriage license and rings
  • Contact vendors to make sure they have everything they need
  • Print copies of wedding vows and toasts if needed
  • Confirm the time for any day-of deliveries at the venue
  • Confirm schedule and timeline with staff and wedding party
  • Last-minute setup at the venue
  • Create an emergency kit with medicine, safety pins, makeup, and more
  • Make sure the wedding party has changes of clothes if needed

Sending Wedding Invitations

Preparing your wedding invitations ahead of time is one of the most important things you can do to prepare for a successful wedding day. Getting your save the date and invitations out in time gives your guests plenty of time to prepare, especially if they’ll be traveling.

Your wedding invitations might also include important information like the suggested dress, menu options, and gift registry access. As a general rule of thumb, you should send your save the dates out 4-12 months in advance depending on travel, and you can send your invitations out no later than eight weeks before the wedding day. This means you should have your designs finalized a few weeks before you plan to send them out so you also have plenty of time to print the wedding invitations.

Create Lasting Wedding Memories

Most couples say their wedding day can feel like a blur. All of the weeks and months of planning come together in one day of fun and celebration. To commemorate the special day, create wedding gifts and keepsakes for yourself and your guests that let you relive the celebration.

On the day of your wedding, you can make sure all the wedding day decor has a personal touch – from your place cards and programs to your table settings.
