I’m a proud husband and father of two rowdy boys: one six-months-old, the other three.

I think my work on the street definitely influences how I photograph my family: black-and-white, moody and candid.

I’m always aiming to catch those special moments, moments that last for only a split second.

As fellow parents know, catching these moments can be about as rare and difficult as hitting a hole-in-one on the miniature golf course, blindfolded.

I always say that photographing my children has proven good practice for shooting on the street.

A typical day for me is pretty much chaos from start to finish, with me and my wife scrambling to get the kids fed and ready for the day, followed by ourselves.

Luckily, my wife is still on leave at the moment, but that will soon change. As for me, I work a demanding, fulltime job at a law firm downtown.

I’m usually tired and mentally drained when I get home, but make sure I’m 100% engaged for those precious hours I get to spend with my family before bedtime.

We try to always get out and do something, whether it be going on a hike, visiting the zoo or one of our many museums, playing at the park, hitting the beach or going berry picking, amongst other activities.

As exhausting as two kids can be, I wouldn’t change anything! I love my family and feel so incredibly blessed!

So when do I find time to focus on my person photography? I spend a lot of time shooting during my lunch breaks at work and during the kids’ naps.

My wife is also good about letting me get out once during the week, either after work one night for a few hours or on the weekend. She knows how much photography means to me and is 100% supportive of my craft.

My wife is truly the glue of our family. She’s also a bit of a photographer herself.
