Feeling inspired to dress up your home? Sometimes a little goes a long way. Adding a framed photo of your family, a great piece of wall art, coffee table decor or floral arrangements will give your house a warm cozy feeling and a unique look.

If you’re looking for an elegant and creative way to decorate your wall, follow our DIY canvas tutorial. It’ll be done in eight steps with six easy-to-find materials. It takes around four hours to complete this project since you’ll need to wait for paint to dry.

How to Make a DIY Canvas

To make this stunning canvas, choose greenery or florals that go with your decor. You can usually find a variety of styles in your local craft store. We used a larger canvas for our project but, feel free to use a size that best suits your room. You’ll just have to cut the leaves shorter.

Materials:

  • Artificial greenery
  • Artificial florals
  • Crafting knife
  • Wire cutters
  • Hot glue
  • 16×20 Canvas
  • Pencil
  • Paintbrush

Step 1: Draw out your vase design with marker or acrylic paints. You can add subtle metallic touches for a more elegant feel.

Step 2: Slice along the top part of your illustrated vase. Make sure it goes all the way through the canvas.

Step 3: Cut the stems of your greenery with a wire cutter. We suggest cutting different heights to give it a fuller look.

Step 4: Place your greenery inside the slit. Start with taller ones first and include the shorter ones near the front of the vase.

Step 5: Glue your greenery as you go. You don’t need a lot of glue to keep in place but make sure you add glue to the top and bottom.

Step 6: Add small flower details of choice or you can also include different types of leaves.

Step 7: Flip your canvas over and glue all your stems together. Make sure that you also glue them to the canvas to keep them secure.

Step 8: Hang and enjoy.

The good thing about this DIY canvas art is that it can work with any style you need. You can also try decorating seasonally.  Pops of yellows for summer, pinks and lavenders for spring, maroon and green hues for autumn and beautiful winters whites will look amazing in your home.
