Wedding Announcement Essentials

Q: What should you include in a wedding announcement?

A wedding announcement typically includes the couple’s names, a statement that they are married, and the wedding date. You can also include the ceremony location, a favorite wedding photo, or a short message of gratitude. Keep the wording focused on sharing your happy news rather than inviting recipients to an event.

Q: How is a wedding announcement different from a wedding invitation?

A wedding invitation asks guests to attend your celebration, while a wedding announcement shares that your marriage has already taken place. Announcements are especially useful after an elopement or intimate ceremony, helping you celebrate the news with loved ones who were not there.

Q: When should you send wedding announcements?

Wedding announcements are traditionally sent shortly after the ceremony, often within the first few weeks. If you want to include professional wedding photos, it is fine to wait until those images are ready. For a later announcement, wording such as “We’re delighted to share that we were married” keeps the message clear and warm.

Q: Who should receive a wedding announcement?

Wedding announcements are often sent to extended family, friends, colleagues, and other people who would appreciate hearing your news but did not attend the ceremony. You can also share them with guests as a keepsake. Receiving an announcement does not create an obligation to send a gift.

Q: How do you personalize wedding announcement wording and design?

Choose wording and visual details that reflect your relationship and celebration. A formal announcement might use full names and a traditional marriage statement, while a casual version could begin with “We tied the knot!” Include a meaningful photo, coordinate colors with your wedding, and choose easy-to-read lettering so your names and wedding date stand out.

Share your newlywed news with wedding announcement essentials that help you tell loved ones you’re married. Browse announcement options with your wording in mind, from a simple note with your names and wedding date to a more personal message for friends and family who couldn’t attend.
