Create Custom Poster Prints With Your Photos

Turn favorite memories, milestone moments, and everyday snapshots into custom poster prints you'll love displaying year after year. Shutterfly photo poster prints are printed on archival-quality paper with a matte finish that helps your photos stand out while reducing glare. Whether you're creating a single-photo poster or a collage poster filled with multiple pictures, it's easy to design personalized wall art that reflects your style. Add names, dates, messages, and meaningful details at no additional cost to create custom poster prints for your home, special events, or thoughtful personalized gifts.

Choose a Single-Photo or Collage Poster Layout

Whether you want to spotlight one standout image or tell a larger story through multiple photos, there are plenty of ways to design a poster that feels uniquely yours. Choose from single-photo poster layouts or collage poster prints that display anywhere from a few favorite pictures to up to 28 photos in one design. Gallery-style arrangements, clean grids, bordered layouts, full-bleed designs, and white-space templates make it easy to showcase family memories, travel adventures, graduation highlights, pet photos, and year-in-review moments. If you've already created artwork elsewhere, you can also upload your own finished design and turn it into a custom poster print.

Find the Right Photo Poster Size and Orientation

Choosing the right size helps your poster fit both your photos and your space. Shutterfly poster prints are available in sizes including 8×8, 8×10, 11×14, 12×12, 16×20, and 20×30 inches, with square, portrait, and landscape formats available across much of the collection. Smaller sizes work well on desks, shelves, and compact gallery walls, while medium sizes like 11×14 and 16×20 are ideal for bedrooms, home offices, hallways, and grouped displays. A large 20×30 poster can create a statement wall piece or serve as a focal point for celebrations, welcome tables, and special events. Most designs are available in multiple sizes and orientations, and you can update your selection while personalizing your poster.

Personalize Your Poster Design

Once you've chosen a layout, you can customize your poster to match your style and the story you're sharing. Add names, dates, captions, quotes, or longer messages to make your design more personal. Customize fonts, text colors, backgrounds, and patterns to create anything from a modern and minimalist poster to a colorful family collage. Whether you're celebrating a graduation, remembering a favorite vacation, highlighting wedding photos, creating a pet portrait display, or preserving everyday family moments, personalized poster prints make it easy to turn meaningful memories into artwork.

How to Create a Custom Photo Poster

Creating a custom poster is simple with Shutterfly:

1. Choose a poster template or upload your own design.
2. Select the poster size that works best for your space.
3. Upload your photos and start customizing.
4. Place photos into the designated layouts or use autofill for faster creation.
5. Crop, zoom, rotate, or enhance images as needed.
6. Add text, adjust colors, and personalize the design.
7. Review your project and address any image-quality, cropping, spelling, or empty-photo-slot alerts.
8. Preview your finished poster before placing your order.

Shutterfly's editing tools make it easy to refine your design while keeping the focus on the photos and memories that matter most.

Choose Photos That Will Print Clearly on a Poster

For the best results, start with the highest-resolution version of your photo whenever possible. Original images generally produce sharper poster prints than screenshots, heavily compressed files, or photos that have been repeatedly downloaded from social media. Image quality becomes especially important when one photo fills a large-format poster, while collage poster prints can be a great option when multiple images share the space.

As you personalize your design, Shutterfly will alert you if a photo may not have enough resolution for printing. Be sure to review important details, faces, and cropping before ordering. You can upload photos from your computer, the Shutterfly app, Google Photos, Amazon Photos, Facebook, and other supported sources.

Ways to Use and Display Custom Photo Posters

Custom poster prints offer a versatile way to showcase the moments, people, and places that matter most. Create a family photo wall, display favorite travel memories, celebrate a graduation, decorate a dorm room, or design a year-in-review collage that captures highlights from the past year. Poster prints also make thoughtful birthday, holiday, anniversary, and housewarming gifts. For events, they can be used on welcome tables, memory tables, guest sign-in displays, and party décor. Poster prints arrive unframed, giving you the flexibility to display them in a compatible frame, mount them with your preferred materials, or use them as temporary event signage and décor.

Compare Poster Prints With Other Custom Wall Art

Not sure which wall art format is right for your project? Here's a quick comparison:

• Poster Prints: Matte paper prints that are lightweight, unframed, and available in single-photo and collage layouts.
• Canvas Prints: Photos printed on wrapped canvas for a textured, ready-to-display look.
• Framed Prints: Printed photos paired with a frame for a polished presentation.
• Metal Prints: Images printed on metal for a sleek, modern finish.
• Acrylic Prints: Photos displayed beneath acrylic for added depth and clarity.
• Photo Tiles: Restickable wall art that can be moved and rearranged as your space, style, or photo collection changes.
