Graduation Card Edges

The edge shape helps set the tone for a graduation card. Straight edges create a crisp, classic look, while rounded corners add a softer touch. Decorative contours can frame the design and give a graduation announcement or party invitation a more ornamental feel.

Consider the overall style of your photos, lettering, and artwork. A simple edge can keep the focus on a bold portrait or detailed design, while a decorative edge can add interest to a pared-back layout. Aim for a shape that complements your graduation card rather than competing with its message.

Keep names, graduation details, and important parts of your photos away from the outer edge. For rounded or decorative contours, give corners extra breathing room so faces and lettering remain clear. Preview the full layout to check that the edge shape frames the content without interrupting it.

Yes. Edge shapes and school colors can work together to create a cohesive design. A clean outline pairs well with bold color blocks, while a curved contour can complement flowing lettering or decorative accents. Repeating a school color in the border or graduation year can help tie the layout together.

Matching edges can give graduation announcements and party invitations a coordinated look, but they do not have to be identical. You can connect the designs through shared colors, photos, or typography and choose a different edge style for each. This lets an announcement feel formal while a celebration invitation feels more playful.
