"We chose this card due to the fact that it did not look like a traditional holiday card. Additionally, the year was quite eventful for us; and, as a result, we had several pictures we wanted to include to help recap the year. This particular card enabled us to include six photos on the front and one photo on the back. (I think you can use up to eight photos on the front though.) Keep in mind that you may need to do a bit of cropping when placing photos on the front of the card. This is because the template for the holiday card won't accept photos done in landscape format (ie, rectangular photos) but it is easy to use the photo editing feature in Shutterfly to do the cropping. Also note that any text on your chosen photos probably won't be readable on the printed card. Thus, plan to put your captions elsewhere. There's also room on the front of the card for a special message. My suggestion here is to go to a smaller sized font as the default size will not allow you to say much on this part of the card. Another key feature of this card - which is an improvement from previous years - is that you are able to include one photo on the back. There's also a fairly large text box here as well and this is the area where we placed a more detailed message along with captions for photos shown on the front of the card. Overall we were pleased with the entire "creative" process. Designing the card was simple; the Shutterfly service was fast; the price was right; the card stock was high quality; and we were all happy with the end result."
"My wife enhanced a small reindeer hat with sequins and fir needles, and we put it on our cat, Ted, to make a funny holiday card. The Frosted Lace Frame Holiday Card was ideal for a single large photo and our Christmas reindeer theme. We added our own copy in PhotoShop. We use Shutterfly every year for our holiday cards, and we also make greeting cards during the year, as well as photo books, address labels, and other assorted items Shutterfly offers at good prices. We frequently take advantage of their sales. My only complaint with Shutterfly is they have too many designs that are too busy, use too many photos, or have wording we don't like. We prefer very simple layouts, which allow us to do what we want. Fortunately, Shutterfly has a few designs for us. A word of advice -- use only one photo per page. Many people fall in love with their family photos and try to pile them in, only to have a busy card (with tiny photos) that doesn't look good. Keep it simple with one photo per page, and you'll get a much better looking card. In any case, Shutterfly does a great job, and they have great customer service. We wouldn't use any other photo printing service!"
