Rosh Hashanah Cards For Families

Share a warm wish for a sweet new year, followed by a personal note and your family’s names. For example: “Wishing you a year filled with joy, good health, and meaningful moments together. With love from our family to yours.” You can also include a favorite memory from the past year.

“Shanah tovah” means “a good year” and is a common Rosh Hashanah greeting. “Shanah tovah u’metukah” wishes someone a good and sweet year. Either phrase can stand alone or accompany an English message, such as “May the new year bring sweetness and joy to your home.”

Make your greeting feel personal with a family photo, a message written together, or a brief update about a meaningful milestone. Children can contribute a short wish for the year ahead. Sign with first names or your family name to give the card a warm finishing touch.

Apples and honey are familiar Rosh Hashanah symbols that express hopes for a sweet year. Pomegranates often represent abundance, while a shofar connects the design to the holiday’s call to reflection. Choose imagery that reflects your family’s traditions and complements your message.

You can share Rosh Hashanah cards with relatives, friends, neighbors, and members of your congregation or community. Recipients do not need to celebrate the holiday to appreciate a thoughtful greeting. For someone unfamiliar with Rosh Hashanah, a simple message such as “As we celebrate the Jewish New Year, we’re wishing you joy and sweetness in the year ahead” adds helpful context.
