"My grandson Jacob, who turns 13 this week, LOVES the San Diego Chargers. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find Chargers birthday cards in stores? Actually, I've never found one. This is the third year I've made him a Chargers card on Shutterfly, and he has been thrilled, especially since I've inadvertently chosen Google Image photos that include his favorite players. This year's card is still in the mail on its way to him, but he took last year's card to bed with him because he loved it so much. And the beauty is that the Shutterfly cards are mostly less expensive than store-bought cards. I make them for everyone in my family, based on what they love or what they happen to be interested at the time of their birthday or graduation or other special event. I have also made wedding cards for people, using pictures of their wedding venue taken before the event. I've made anniversary cards, new baby cards, Mother's Day cards, Father's Day cards, Thanksgiving cards, Christmas cards, Easter cards, valentines, and thank-you cards. It takes more work to make these cards than it does to buy a card off the shelf, but the rewards to everyone are priceless. The card quality is great and consistent, and I am grateful everyday that I can do something this simple that brings so much joy to my family members and friends, but especially to my eight grandchildren."
"I ordered Picture in a Portrait Christmas cards several times before and even after Christmas. Instead of making it our Christmas cards, I made them with photos I have taken through out the year as a nature photographer. Then I broke them down into bundles of 6, inserted them, with their envelopes, and gave them as gifts or with gifts. My most recent order was a photo of 2 Canada Geese standing in the bend of a dirt road. I ordered 10 of them and gave the whole group to my husband who often sends notes to people in the church to encourage them, to congratulate them, or just to maintain contact. "The classic 5x7 folded card allowed me to create a mini-genealogy gift card. I used a layout with 9 openings on front - the center for a mini-story & the surrounding for historical old family photos. On each inside page, I used a layout with 3 small boxes on top & also on bottom & inserted photos & the large center was devoted to text. So on inside page left, I had 6 photos of individual old family mementos & the middle gave a complete description of each one. Inside page right had 6 photos of me with current family - one was me with 3 adult children & the other 5 were individual ones of each of 5 grandchildren & the center listed the names. The back page I used for a full-page picture of me with my 3 children when they were young. I also inserted some text on bottom of the picture. A beautiful & memorable KEEPSAKE!"
