October 18, 2012 Cards Kids Want to Sleep With

"My grandson Jacob, who turns 13 this week, LOVES the San Diego Chargers. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find Chargers birthday cards in stores? Actually, I've never found one. This is the third year I've made him a Chargers card on Shutterfly, and he has been thrilled, especially since I've inadvertently chosen Google Image photos that include his favorite players. This year's card is still in the mail on its way to him, but he took last year's card to bed with him because he loved it so much. And the beauty is that the Shutterfly cards are mostly less expensive than store-bought cards. I make them for everyone in my family, based on what they love or what they happen to be interested at the time of their birthday or graduation or other special event. I have also made wedding cards for people, using pictures of their wedding venue taken before the event. I've made anniversary cards, new baby cards, Mother's Day cards, Father's Day cards, Thanksgiving cards, Christmas cards, Easter cards, valentines, and thank-you cards. It takes more work to make these cards than it does to buy a card off the shelf, but the rewards to everyone are priceless. The card quality is great and consistent, and I am grateful everyday that I can do something this simple that brings so much joy to my family members and friends, but especially to my eight grandchildren."

January 22, 2013 Shutterfly saved the day!

"I had almost finished writing all of my Thank you cards for Christmas gifts my little girl, Ellie, had gotten for her first Christmas. My husband and I had my husband's work dinner party so my parents came over to watch my daughter while we went. My daughter had been sick and so my mom stayed in her room playing with her in the humidified air while my step-father watched tv in our living area. My two dogs, Cooper (a bloodhound) and Drake (a black lab) decided to eat all of my thank you cards - even the ones still in the packaging!! My step-father was able to get two away from them. When we got home he handed me the two that were left. I was so upset because that had taken so much time. I got on Shutterfly and ordered new cards, complete with Cooper and Drake's face on the back saying they were sorry they ate my first thank you cards!! Thank goodness for Shutterfly!!"

December 8, 2012 Random Boys Pics

"I had a bunch of adorable pics from the day that I tried to sit the 2 of them down for a perfect family send out. There were tongues displayed, random flailing arms, and kooky expressions that were priceless. So, rather than delete them, I made a collage of them on the cover of a card and put the "good" photo on the inside with the caption "But Seriously..." It'll serve as my go to whenever I need something to send out to the family and they can appreciate a real look at what it takes to make toddler boys give a good shot. Anyway, it turned out great! Thanks Shutterfly!"
