How to Make Christmas Cards With Multiple Photos

One photo doesn’t always tell the whole story of your year. Maybe you want to include a picture of each child, share a few favorite family memories, or create a collage of the moments that made this year special. With Shutterfly, you can make Christmas cards with multiple photos on the front, back, or both.

Our multi-photo Christmas cards come in a variety of designs, from simple two-photo layouts to larger holiday collages. You can even choose a Christmas card with one photo on the front and add up to 15 more photos on the back at no extra cost. Here’s how to create a Christmas card that includes all your favorite pictures.

How to Make a Christmas Card With Multiple Photos

Creating a Christmas card with more than one picture is easy with Shutterfly. You can choose a design that already features several photos, adjust the layout to fit your pictures, and use the back of your card for even more memories.

1. Choose a Multi-Photo Christmas Card Template

Start by browsing our Christmas card designs with multiple photos. We offer templates that feature two, three, four, five, or more photos, so you can find a design that fits the pictures you want to share.

If you already know how many photos you’d like on the front, use the “# Of Photos” filter while browsing. Select 2, 3, 4, or 5+ to narrow down the available designs. For example, if you want to include three individual photos of your kids, filtering for three-photo Christmas cards makes it easier to find a matching template.

The filter only applies to the photos featured on the front of the card. You can still add more pictures to the back later.

2. Choose Your Photo Layout

Once you’ve selected your favorite design, choose your card’s format, paper type, and trim, then open the personalization editor to add your photos.

Under “Layouts,” you’ll see the available photo arrangements for your selected design. Some Christmas card templates offer several options for the number of photos you can feature on the front. For example, a design might let you switch between a single large photo, three photos side by side, or a five-photo collage.

You can experiment with the available layouts to see which arrangement works best for your pictures. Keep in mind that layout options vary by design, so some templates offer more choices than others.

3. Add Your Photos to the Front of Your Christmas Card

Upload your favorite pictures to Shutterfly and place them into your chosen layout. You can use family portraits, individual photos of your kids, vacation pictures, pet photos, or a mix of memorable moments from throughout the year.

Depending on your design, you can arrange your photos into a clean grid, a side-by-side layout, or a larger collage. Adjust the positioning and crop of each picture to make sure everyone fits comfortably within the available space.

You can also customize your Christmas greeting, fonts, and available design colors and backgrounds to complement your photos.

4. Add Even More Photos to the Back for Free

Need room for more pictures? Every Shutterfly Christmas card includes free back-of-card customization, giving you extra space to share photos and a personal holiday message.

In the editor, select “Back” to explore the available layouts. You can choose a text-only design, add a single picture, or create a photo collage with up to 15 additional photos. Available layouts include different combinations of pictures and text, so you can choose how much space to give each.

This is especially helpful if you want to keep the front of your Christmas card simple. For example, you could feature one family portrait on the front and use the back to share pictures from vacations, birthdays, school events, and other favorite memories.

There’s no additional charge to add photos or text to the back of your Shutterfly Christmas card.

5. Review and Order Your Multi-Photo Christmas Cards

Before ordering, preview both sides of your Christmas card to make sure your photos look the way you want. Check that faces aren’t cropped, your pictures are arranged correctly, and your holiday greeting is easy to read.

Once you’re happy with your design, you can choose your envelope options, add recipient or return address printing, and place your order. You can also select our Mail for Me® Service if you’d like us to address, stuff, stamp, and mail your Christmas cards directly to your recipients.

Ideas for Christmas Cards With Multiple Pictures

Not sure how to arrange your favorite photos? Multi-photo Christmas cards give you plenty of ways to share your year with family and friends.

Family photo collages: Combine a recent family portrait with candid pictures from throughout the year.
Individual photos of each child: Give everyone their own space on the card, especially when getting the whole family together for one picture is a challenge.
Year-in-review Christmas cards: Share highlights from family vacations, birthdays, graduations, new babies, and other milestones.
Pet Christmas cards: Include your furry family members alongside your favorite family pictures.
Then-and-now Christmas cards: Show how much your children have grown by pairing older pictures with recent photos.
Holiday photo collages: Mix festive pictures from Christmas activities, family gatherings, and seasonal traditions.

You don’t have to fit every picture on the front. A favorite family portrait paired with a photo collage on the back gives you room to share more of your year without crowding your Christmas greeting.
